Romped around my studio today, eager to create. Stirred by my musician friend's Japanese-inspired composition, my art-making adventure took a different turn! ๐ฏ๐ต
Rising sun reds and cool water blues found its way on my canvas. Then origami paper called me like cherry blossoms call travellers to Mt. Fuji in April. ๐ป I mused, the natural phenomena of the origami's geometric patterns gave my art a fresh, natural twist.
I stained rice paper, hung them dry, and turned them into my own hand-painted paper. Perfect for fins and tails. ๐
Such intense fun as well as nostalgia!
This creative day in my studio took me back to '80s summers when my sisters and I enjoyed school breaks in Tokyo.
A fun work in progress, so far it's looking like my Mom's yukata! ๐
I am so excited to find out how this piece would turn out. Watch for it! ๐ฎ๐ค
Work in progress...looks like my Mom's yukata, a light, cotton kimono.
Above: This is how I dried my rice paper!
My art-making philosophy of freedom, play and fun is painted all over my face. ๐
