Romped around my studio today, eager to create. Stirred by my musician friend's Japanese-inspired composition, my art-making adventure took a different turn! 🇯🇵
Rising sun reds and cool water blues found its way on my canvas. Then origami paper called me like cherry blossoms call travellers to Mt. Fuji in April. 🗻 I mused, the natural phenomena of the origami's geometric patterns gave my art a fresh, natural twist.
I stained rice paper, hung them dry, and turned them into my own hand-painted paper. Perfect for fins and tails. 🐠
Such intense fun as well as nostalgia!
This creative day in my studio took me back to '80s summers when my sisters and I enjoyed school breaks in Tokyo.
A fun work in progress, so far it's looking like my Mom's yukata! 👘
I am so excited to find out how this piece would turn out. Watch for it! 🏮🤞
Work in progress...looks like my Mom's yukata, a light, cotton kimono.
Above: This is how I dried my rice paper!
My art-making philosophy of freedom, play and fun is painted all over my face. 😄
